Golf Australia Magazine Unveils 2019 List of Top 100 Public Courses

Shelly Beach Golf Club makes its debut in Golf Australia Magazine's top 100 public access course list.
Every golfer loves to debate golf course rankings and those of us in Australia have been given yet another opportunity to do just that with the publication of Golf Australia Magazine's top 100 public access courses for 2019.

Seven courses make their debut in Golf Australia's biennial list, which only counts venues that offer tee times to the public at least five days per week.

Coffs Harbour (Lakes Course) makes its maiden appearance at 98th, as do Shelly Beach (86th), Mornington (84th), The Sands Torquay (82nd), Macquarie Links International (78th), Maroochy River (65th) and Mt Compass (59th).

Up the pointy end of the list, the top four positions were taken up by Tasmanian courses: Ocean Dunes (4th), Barnbougle Lost Farm (3rd), Barnbougle Dunes (2nd) and Cape Wickham which topped the list for the second time in a row.

Most of the big movers came from New South Wales.

Narooma climbed 7 spots to 22nd, Mollymook's Hilltop Course jumped 8 places to 72nd, Murwillumbah moved up 8 to 71st and Byron Bay improved by 9 to 83rd.

Coolangatta Tweed Heads will be savouring its improvement with its River course up 10 to 66th and its West Course leaping 14 spots to 77th.

Sydney's Eastlake (up 12 spots to 63rd), Belmont (up 16 spots to 54th) and Cypress Lakes (up 24 spots to 73rd) also made sizeable moves.

The biggest improvers elsewhere were Palm Meadows (up 9 spots to 52nd), Warrnambool (up 9 spots to 45th), Sun City (up 11 spots to 34th) and Tasmania Golf Club (up 12 spots to 47th).
