INCLEMENT weather in New Orleans has given the PGA Tour players at the Zurich Classic a lot of downtime and it seems Rickie Fowler has spent that time crafting his Australian accent.
During Sunday’s weather delay at TPC Louisiana, Australia’s Jason Day was being interviewed by Golf Channel and good friend Fowler decided to rib the US PGA Championship winner.
Sitting behind Day, Fowler recorded a Snapchat of himself impersonating Day’s accent while the Australian was talking to camera.
“Jason day here,” Fowler said with his best Australian twang. “Good on ya mate, how ya going?”
Day turns and laughs to Fowler’s camera but the American wasn’t done there and had another crack at Day with a second Snapchat.
“Yeah Jason Day here,” Fowler continued in his Australian accent “About to do an interview.”
Day finally gives Fowler some proper attention and turns to the reigning Players champion and gives him a cheerful “G’day mate!”
Fowler, of course, continues with his Aussie accent, “How ya going, Jason?”
Each day of the Zurich Classic was suspended due to the rainy weather battering Louisiana and organisers were forced to reduce the tournament to 54 holes.
Eventually, American Brian Stuard triumphed on Monday in a playoff victory over compatriot Jamie Lovemark and Korean Byeong-Hun An.
