LPGA rookie Hannah Green has played her way into the top 10 of the weather delayed LPGA event in Indiana with a near flawless second round.

Green, a guest on this week’s iSeekGolf Podcast, hit all 14 fairways and all 18 greens in a 5-under 67 that jumped her to a share of 10th as play resumed following a more than three hour rain delay.

Green was among the morning wave of players that completed their second rounds before torrential rain and dangerous storms forced players form the course shortly after 2.30pm.

Starting the day in a share of 38th position after an opening 69, Green leapfrogged several players and is within five shots of leaders Sung Hyun Park and Lizette Salas.

Salas was the overnight leader after opening with a 10-under 62 and backed up with a credible 3-under 69 while Park produced a 9-under 63 Friday to join the lead.

While Green was understandably excited with her play it was a more difficult assignment for Australia’s top ranked player, Minjee Lee, who signed for an even par 72.

Lee began the day at the same mark as Green but never found her rhythm on a difficult day.

After two birdies and two bogeys on the outward nine the West Australian looked to be back on track with a birdie at the 13th but disaster struck almost immediately.

She dropped a shot at the 14th then made a clumsy double at the 15th to fall to 2-over for the round and outside the cut line.

However, Lee has been one of the most consistent players on the Tour this year and ground out two birdies in the final three holes to give herself a chance to make the weekend.

Sarah Jane Smith and Su Oh were the other Australians to finish their second rounds but at 2-under and 1-under respectively look likely to miss the cut.

When play was eventually suspended due to darkness Katherine Kirk was 3-under for the day and 4-under for the tournament with nine holes remaining to be T48 while Rebecca Artis is 1-over through six and 2-under overall to be flirting with the cut line at T86.
