European Final Stage begins Saturday

Final Stage qualifying for the 2013 European Tour begins this Saturday at the PGA Catalunya Resort in Girona in Spain where nine Australians are currently scheduled to tee it up.

Played over 108 holes, the Final Stage of qualifying will see 156 players vying for one of 25 full European Tour cards handed out at the completion of the event.

The field will play 2 rounds on both the Stadium and Tour Courses at the venue. After 72 holes the field will be cut to the leading 70 players and ties who will play two further rounds over the Stadium Course.

Australians who have made it to the Final either through the various qualifying stages or through their involvement on the European Tour in 2012 are Scott Arnold, Rohan Blizard, Daniel Gaunt, Ashley Hall, Terry Pilkadaris, Kieran Pratt, Jason Scrivener, Scott Strange and Matthew Zions.

Gaunt, Strange, Zions and Pilkadaris have previously held European Tour cards in fact both Strange and Zions have won on the European Tour in the past three years. Zions won in 2011 but his exemption for winning the second level St Omer Open was only for one year.
