RORY McIlroy, who has replaced Tiger Woods as golf's world number one, will also supplant the 14-time major champion on EA Sports' PGA Tour video game.
EA has announced that the game, to be released in June, will be called "Rory McIlroy PGA Tour" and feature the 25-year-old from Northern Ireland on its cover.
It will mark the first time since 1998, the year after Woods won his first major crown at the Masters, that Woods has not been featured on the cover.
EA Sports announced in 2013 that the company had ended its partnership with Woods.
EA figures to seek a new group of young gamers and golf fans with the switch, using the hashtag NextGenGolf with a Twitter posting announcing McIlroy's new status.
“I’m very proud and humbled to see my face and name on EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR,” said McIlroy .
“This is a great honor, and something I couldn’t even dream of growing up playing the sport. I really hope people enjoy the game and I’m very glad I can be a part of it.”
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour will be the first EA Sports title to utilise the power of the Frostbite 3 engine to render stunning courses and change the golf gaming experience. With the ability to stream full environments, players will truly be able to play the ball as it lies, no matter where it lands.
"Frostbite 3 is really the perfect piece of technology for us to use as we create EA Sports PGA Tour,” said Executive Producer Brent Nielsen.
"There is no better engine out there for creating complex, lifelike environments, and it has allowed us to recreate some of the world's most beautiful courses, as well as create some new ideas of our own. Also, for the first time ever we're offering a game that's completely free of load times after you start your round, allowing you to move seamlessly from one green to the next tee without breaking immersion."
The game will be released in June 2015 for PlayStation 4 and XBox One consoles.
