The Australian challenge has faltered at the Web.com Tour event in Colombia with both Brett Drewitt and Rhein Gibson over par on day three and slipping down the leaderboard.

The only two Australians to make the cut, each signed for 2-over rounds of 73 Saturday to fall from inside the top 20 to the bottom half of the field.

Having both started the day 4-under and T16 they will now play together in the final round,

both amassing four birdies against four bogeys and a double at the Bogota Golf Club.

At 2-under they trail leader Ben Taylor of England by 10 strokes but both have plenty to play for Sunday given their solid starts to the season.

Gibson is fifth on the money list with two top five finishes and a top 20 in three starts so far.

He is all but assured of making the end of season play-offs and will also have his sights firmly set on finishing inside the top 25 money leaders and earning a promotion to the PGA Tour next year.

Drewitt is presently eighth on the standings and also in good position to challenge for a PGA Tour card at the end of the year.

Both are forecast to lose ground this week given their positions on the leaderboard however good play tomorrow will minimise the damage.
