The Australian challenge at the Sanderson Farm Championship has not yet materialised with Curtis Luck doing best of the five in the field at the Country Club of Jackson in Jackson in Mississippi.

Luck, who is playing just his second event as a PGA Tour member after missing the cut in his first event at the Safeway Open, is tied for 31st at 4 under and five shots from leaders Norman Xiong and Cameron Champ.

Luck secured his right to play the PGA Tour via the Web.Com Tour Finals where top tens in two of the four final events gave him enough to earn one of the 25 cards available through that process.

Stuart Appleby is next best of the Australians and the only other to make the cut the Victorian in 60th place and right on the cut mark of 1 under.

Aaron Baddeley, Cameron Davis and Matt Jones all failed to make the weekend field.

New Zealander Tim Wilkinson, who Monday qualified for the event, is tied with Appleby in 60th place.

19 year old Guam born, Xiong, is playing the event on invite after an amateur career at the University of Oregon while 23-year old Champ, one of the longest hitters in the game, is in his rookie season on the PGA Tour after an excellent season on the Web.Com Tour in 2018.
