Choi leads over Allenby at Hilton Head

K.J. Choi leads the weather disrupted RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Links on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, the Korean star producing a round of 67 on day two before storms brought play to a halt with nearly half the field yet to complete round two.

Play will resume on Saturday morning although the forecast is suggesting that too may be a problem with the rain expected to continue through until the middle of the day tomorrow.

Choi had a solid week at Augusta National last week after a run of disappointing tournaments but today he impressed although was obviously advantaged by a favourable draw. He has taken full advantage however and leads by one over Robert Allenby whose effort through four holes of round two is even more of a surprise than that of Choi's.

Allenby has missed seven of nine cuts this season and is currently ranked 454th in the world but an opening round of 69 this week followed by two early birdies in round two has him hot on the heels of Choi.

The group at 3 under and just two behind Choi includes one of the pre tournament favourites Luke Donald who is looking to extend a great record at Harbour Town. He has not won here but has been inside the top three in four of his last five starts over the Pete Dye designed layout.

Donald added a second round of 69 to his opening 70 and does not have to face the uncertainty of when his second round will recommence.

Like Allenby, Geoff Ogilvy is another Australian reversing form and his impressive round of 68 has him in a share of 8th place at 2 under and three from the lead.
