Champions Tour plays third major of year

The Constellation Senior Players Championship is the third of five major championships on the Champions Tour in 2015, the tournament being held this week at the Belmont Country Club in Belmont in Massachusetts.

The Donald Ross designed layout is hosting an event of this level for the first time although in 1937 it was the venue for a match play championship won by Byron Nelson.

The course is yet another Donald Ross gem and should provide a fabulous test for an event of this significance on the Champions Tour.

The Champions Tour's stars are all in attendance this week including Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Kenny Perry, Tom Lehman and Jeff Maggert amongst others.

Perry's regular tour career finished at last week's Memorial Tournament and back against this field he could do well.

Joe Durant and Tom Pernice Jnr are others who are in good form and appear good chances especially on a golf course where power does not appear a major prerequisite for success.

Peter Senior produced his best finish of the season last week when 10th in Iowa. This might well be the sort of golf course that continues that improvement for the Queenslander who has played on a limited basis this season due to his conditional status.
