Australia's Brendan Jones has finished 3rd at the lucrative Dunlop Phoenix Tournament in Miyazaki in Japan, a final round of 68 seeing him finish two shots behind the winner Kodai Ichihara.

Jones took some time to get his round moving forward today after beginning the day two shots from the lead but a final nine holes of 3 under 32 saw him move into outright third place with a cheque for $A160,000 (equivalent) coming his way.

Jones takes over as the leading Australian on the 2018 Japan Golf Tour in 14th place just ahead of Brad Kennedy.

Kennedy finished 17th this week, David Bransdon 29th and Won Joon Lee 41st.

This week's field included the likes of Emiliano Grillo (8th) and Brooks Koepka (12th).
