Australia’s Brad Kennedy has won his third Japan Tour title with a brilliant final round of 64 to win the Shigeo Nagashima Sega Sammy Cup in Hokkaido.

It was Kennedy’s first Japan Tour title in nearly five years and moves him to 8th place on the 2018 Japan Tour money list with earnings of (equiv) $A360,000. Kennedy had finished 5th at his previous start this season.

The event was reduced to 54 holes after the remnants of a typhoon had washed out play on day one and Kennedy began the final round four shots behind leader Hyung Sung Kim of Korea.

An early bogey gave little indication of what was to come for Kennedy as he then produced nine birdies in his next sixteen holes including two consecutive to finish and ran out the winner by three shots over Kim.

Kennedy’s round was the best of the day by three shots, Kim unable to hold off the finishing burst of the Gold Coast based 44-year old.

The victory takes Kennedy’s career earnings in Japan to more than A$4 million.

The next best of the Australians was Won Joon Lee who finished 26th while David Bransdon was 33rd.
