Queenslander Brad Kennedy is the leading Australian at this week’s Bridgestone Open in Japan as the event enters the weekend, the 44 year old in 13th place at 6 under and just three from the lead held by Korean Sang-Hee Lee.

Kennedy, a three-time winner on the Japan Tour including a win earlier this year in Hokkaido, recovered from an early double bogey in his round today to record a round of 69 which followed his opening 67 yesterday.

Of the other Australians Matthew Griffin is 23rd at 4 under, Anthony Quayle is 29th, Scott Strange 47th and Brendan Jones just making the cut in 25th place.

The leader, Lee has yet to win on the Japan Tour but the 26 year old has been five times runner-up including in this event last year. He has however been a multiple winner on the Korean Tour.
