Steven Bowditch's 15th place finish at this week's Traveler's Championship ensured he had sufficient FedEx Cup points to gain a start at the Open Championship at St Andrews.

The category Bowditch's qualification comes under him being amongst the top five of the top twenty FedEx Cup points list and not otherwise exempt following last week's Travelers Championship.

For Bowditch it will be his second Open Championship having first played in 2003 when missing the cut at Royal St Georges.

Adam Bland is another who recently gained a start at St Andrews via the Japan Tour money list and so 13 Australians currently have a start. They are Jason Day, Adam Scott, John Senden, Geoff Ogilvy, Marc Leishman, Greg Chalmers, Scott Hend, Marcus Fraser, Brett Rumford, Scott Strange and Rod Pampling along with Bowditch and Bland.

Further opportunities are available at the Greenbrier Classic and the John Deere Classic and the Local Final Qualifying in the UK tomorrow.
