Blanks storms to Louisiana Open win

American Kris Blanks has won the Chitimacha Louisiana Open in Broussard after a three hole playoff with Brett Stegmaier.

Blanks' final round of 62 was the best of the day by five shots and he was forced to wait more than three hours to see if his final round brilliance was good enough to secure victory.

The 41 year old Blanks has a minor medical exemption on the PGA Tour this season following shoulder injury but was unable to earn sufficient money in those events to return to the PGA Tour. His victory today however will go quite a way to getting him back on the PGA Tour in 2015.

Nick O'Hern finished as the leading Australian in an overall disappointing week for the down under brigade. The West Australian finished 25th.

Alistair Presnell and Rod Pampling were 32nd.
