Australians return to Asian Tour

The second event of the 2014 Asian Tour season begins Thursday in the Philippines when the Solaire Open is played at the Tom Weiskopf designed Country Club in Laguna.

Chinese Taipei golfer Lin Wen-tang will defend the title he won by two shots at the Wack Wack Golf Club in Manila last year.

Many Australians are in the field despite the relatively small purse of US$300,000, headed by the likes of recent New Zealand Open winner, Dimitrios Papadatos, Kieran Pratt, Matthew Griffin, Terry Pilkadaris, Scott Barr, Unho Park, Matthew Stieger, Andrew Dodt, Cameron Smith, Nick Cullen, Nathan Holman, Jack Munro and Sam Brazel to name a few.

For Pilkadaris and Griffin it is a welcome return to the Asian Tour having overturned a ban imposed on them by the Asian Tour when they were deemed guilty of playing both Asian and OneAsia Tour events two years ago.

Both players, who challenged the Asian Tour in court and won, have full eligibility for both tours and as a result have almost full playing schedules in 2014.
