Following their impressive start on Thursday when Karrie Webb and Minjee Lee combined beautifully to defeat Na Yeon Choi and I.K. Kim the Australians really struggled.
Perhaps those struggles were no better highlighted than when Lindsey Wright and Katherine Kirk folded after leading their match against the Ai Miyazato and Sakura Yokomine 6 up through eleven holes only to lose six of the remaining seven holes and were only able to salvage a halved match and one point.
The Australian combinations of Webb and Lee and Wright and Kirk comprehensively lost both of their matches against Sweden today and are out of the contest.
Australia has finished last in their pool and will not advance to the finals on Sunday.
In an upset for tournament organisers hoping to leverage the success of American players on the LPGA Tour this season into success for the inaugural staging of this event, the USA side was eliminated by Korea in a playoff between the two third teams in Pools A & B and will not participate in the final's day's play.
So Sunday's play will involve Thailand, Spain, Japan, Sweden and Korea. All twenty players involved in singles match-ups.
Points earned over the opening three days carry over to Sunday's final round. Each country will then play one singles match against each of the other four countries, the team with the most points securing the title.
