The Australian contingent has made a slow start to the Web.Com Tour’s United Leasing and Finance Championship in Newburgh in Indiana, Robert Allenby the best of the seven in the field.

Allenby’s opening round of one over par 73 has him in 42nd position, Jamie Arnold and Peter Lonard at 2 over 74 in 53rd place, Mark Hensby 76, Steven Allan and Rhein Gibson 77 and after his round of 66 on Monday to get a start in the field Bryden MacPherson could only record a round of 81 today.

Allenby currently leads the Australians on the 2017 Web.Com Tour money list but is in 46th position so he and all the Australians need further improvement if they are to be factors in their quest for PGA Tour status in 2018.

The leaders at 4 under par this week are Mexican Abraham Ancer, Canadian Ryan Yip and American Kyle Thompson.
