Australians contending at World Junior

Australasians are doing well at the Callaway World Junior Championship with one round to play at the respective venues.

In the 15-17 year old or "˜senior' division for boys, Victorian Ryan Ruffels recorded the best round of day three at Torrey Pines' famed South Course to move within two of the lead held by Japan's Kaito Onishi.

Ruffels finished 7th in the event last year.

New Zealander Charlie Hillier is in 5th position one shot behind Ruffels.

Queensland's Jack Trent is the next best of the Australasians in 24th position. Trent finished 3rd in the 13-14 division last year.

In the 15-17 Girls Division Sydney's Shelley Shin is the best of the Australians in 18th position although a massive 12 shots from the leader.

Fred Lee leads the Australians in the Boys 13-14 division in 14th position while Doey Choi is the best of the Australian girls in that division in 26th position.

Former winner, Karl Vilips, now based in Victoria, has continued his recent good form by leading the 11-12 division. Vilips won the recent Future Masters in the US and won the 9-10 division Callaway World Junior in 2012.

Queensland's Louis Dobbelaar is in 14th position.
