Australians contending again on LPGA Tour

Australians Minjee Lee and Su Oh are again featuring near the top of an LPGA Tour leaderboard, Lee in second place at the Cambia Portland Classic in Portland in Oregon.

At 12 under Lee finds herself three shots behind the 36 hole leader Georgia Hall and alone in 2nd position while Oh is three shots further back but in a share of 5th place.

Last weekend Lee took her season's earnings for 2018 beyond US$1 million for the first time in her career to date when finishing 4th behind Brooke Henderson at the CP Women’s Open in Saskatchewan and she has followed up by putting herself in the mix once again.

Oh also did well in Canada last week finishing in a share of 4th with her Espirito Santo winning teammate Lee,  recording her third top 5 finish of the season in the process.

A bogey at her final hole today was a hiccup for the Victorian but she is well placed heading into the weekend at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club.

“The second half of the year, I felt like my ball-striking has gotten a little bit better, and the last few weeks my putting has gotten a bit better, too,” said Oh. “Hopefully it'll just come together and we'll have a really good strong finish for the last major of the year.

Rebecca Artis and Katherine Kirk have also made the cut, that pair tied for 36th at 3 under par and nine six shots behind Oh’s 5th place.

Just two starts after she won her very first LPGA Tour event, and a major at that at the Women’s British Open, Hall impressed with the quality of her golf in a second round of 63 including five consecutive birdies in her closing nine holes.

Having her feet placed back on the ground with a midfield effort last week in Canada where she was suffering a little from a cold, she is now further confirming her immense promise and talent.

"I think it was just due to jet lag, and like it was a really long flight. I hadn't one in two months, like a really long one," said the Englishwoman. "I know that sounds a bit silly, but yeah, I had a bad cold, and the weather didn't help because it's freezing in the morning, as well. I think I'm back to normal now, so it's nice.
