Australian Amateur suspended

Inclement weather caused the suspension of the second round of matchplay in the Australian Amateur Championships in Perth today.

Play is scheduled to resume at 7.00am tomorrow with some interesting second round matches still in the balance.

Australian Amateur Stroke Champion and number 1 seed Matt Jager is all square through 9 in his match with Lincoln Tighe, after Jager accounted for John Yim, 3&2, in the first round.

Michael Williams' championship keeps getting better and he's well placed against Tim Hart, being 3-up through 9 in their second round encounter. Williams earlier defeated Ryan McCarthy, 4&3, in the first round and Hart accounted for New Zealand's Ryan Fox 2-up.

Jordan Sherratt narrowly made his way through the first round with a 1-up victory over Cameron Fabian and Sherratt is presently 1-down through 15 holes against Geoffrey Drakeford. Allan Haughie disposed of second seed, Jin Jeong, in their first round encounter and Haughie was 2-down through 9 against Cameron Smith before play stopped.

2009 Australian and New Zealand Amateur Stroke Champion, Bryden Macpherson, is looking dangerous after disposing Anthony Houston, 3&1, in their first round match to be currently 4-up through 12 against Alex Hawley.

New Zealander, Ben Campbell, accounted for Luke Bleumink in their opening encounter, 3&2, and managed to finish his second round match, 5&4, against Brody Ninyette to progress to the quarter-finals.

Kieran Pratt is another starting to make his mark on these championships and is set to meet Campbell in the quarters, after he defeated Mark Varela, 3&2, in his opening round match to follow that with a solid 3&2 win against Lachlan Cain in the second round.
