Australia has bowed out of the UL International Crown after being beaten in a playoff for 5th place against Thailand and Japan.

Thailand advanced to this afternoon’s singles round which will also include Korea, USA, England, and Sweden,

Ariya Jutanugarn chipped in for eagle to allow Thailand a place in the singles matches in which points already accrued in the round robin fourball matches are added to those gained today to determine the winner.

After the impact of Tropical Storm Kong Rey had impacted on the event’s schedule over days two and three proceedings are now back on track but unfortunately for the Australian team of Minjee Lee, Katherine Kirk, Sarah Jane Smith and Su Oh their journey has finished with defeat in the playoff.

In the third round of fourball matches completed this morning Lee and Smith defeated Taiwan’s Candie Kung and Teresa Lu while Kirk and Oh defeated Wei Ling Hsu and Phebe Yao but they had not done enough to avoid the playoff in which they lost out.
