Aussies bow out at Western Amateur

The Australasian challenge was short lived at in the match play phase of the Western Amateur at the Beverly Country Club in Chicago with Geoff Drakeford, Josh Munn, Taylor MacDonald and Lucas Herbert bundled out in round one.

That was the bad news but one of those who lost was a victim of a fellow Australian.

Queenslander, Cory Crawford, defeated Victorian, Lucas Herbert, in the opening round to advance to a quarter final match against Californian Brian Campbell. That match was intense and closely fought with Crawford going down to a birdie at the 5th extra hole by the American.

The next big event on the US Amateur Summer calendar begins in ten days time at the Atlanta Athletic Club where the US Amateur Championship will be played.
