Queensland based Northern Territorian, Anthony Quayle, has finished in a share of 7th place at the Kansai Open on the Japan Golf Tour, improving his standing in the event each day from an opening round of 76 to his final round of 65 today.

Quayle, who makes his home at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast, is in his second year on the Japan Tour, this his second top ten of the 2019 season after finishing 5th at the Crowns Tournament earlier this month.

24-year old Quayle recorded just one bogey in his last 54 holes of the event held in Nara north of Osaka and moves to 21st on the 2019 money list.

He is one of five Australians inside the top 21 on the Japan Tour money list this season, Brendan Jones the best of them in 3rd place after his win at the opening domestic event on the season in Nagoya. Rounding out that group are Matthew Griffin, Brad Kennedy and Won Joon Lee.

David Bransdon and Matthew Griffin were the next best of the Australians when they finished tied for 16th, with Brad Kennedy 36th.

The tournament was won by Tomoharu Otsuki who broke through for his first win on the Japan Tour after a playoff with fellow Japanese golfer, Rikuya Hoshino.

This coming week’s event on the Japan Tour is the Gateway to the Open Mizuno Open, so named because it contains the Japan Tour's qualifying for the Open Championship in July.
