The LPGA Tour gets yet another new event on it schedule this week when the Meijer LPGA Classic is played at the Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids in Michigan, making it the first LPGA Tour event to be played in the state of Michigan since 2000.

Meijer are a large retail chain stretching through the central middle of the USA.

The tournament comes on top of yet another inaugural event for the LPGA Tour at the International Crown in Maryland two weeks ago won by Spain.

This week's event, however, is a 72 hole full field event and one where nine of the game's leading ten players are in the field.

The great thing about the LPGA Tour in recent times is that in the main all the events are supported by the leading players, mainly due to the limited schedule providing fewer opportunities and therefore less need to take a break.

The leading five players from the current Rolex Rankings, Stacy Lewis, Lydia Ko, Inbee Park, Suzanne Petterson and Lexi Thompson are in the field.

Australians playing this week are Karrie Webb, Katherine Kirk, Lindsey Wright, Sarah Jane Smith, Stacey Keating, Sarah Kemp and Julia Boland.
