ANA Inspiration Shaping As Bomber's Paradise, Says Minjee Lee

World No. 3 Minjee Lee admits players with more power than her will have a distinct advantage at the ANA Inspiration once the year's opening major championship tees off tomorrow morning AEST time.

Lee gave a media conference on Wednesday following a windy practice round at Mission Hills Country Club in California and said length and accuracy this week will form a lethal combination.

“A couple of the holes are a little bit longer I think. They probably put the tees back on a couple of the holes.

“You definitely need to hit the fairways first.”

Lee said while the rough around the greens appears to be thicker compared to previous years, the rough alongside the fairways shouldn't deter longer hitters from driving very aggressively.

“The little bit longer hitters than I am can probably bomb it over the bunkers and probably over some of the cuts of the rough.”

“I think they can definitely bomb [driver] pretty much almost every hole here.”

Lee's world rankings rightfully installs her as one of the contenders this week and the 22-year-old has local form having finished just one shot out of the playoff between So Yeon Ryu and Lexi Thompson in 2017.

Now in her 5th year on the highly lucrative LPGA Tour, Lee has become one of the most consistent players in women's golf.

Since her win at last year's Ladies European Tour & ALPG Tour co-sanctioned Vic Open, the Perth native has recorded 15 LPGA top-10 finishes including her win at the 2018 LPGA Volvik Championship.

"I think I’m just a little bit more mature, a little bit more settled down on the tour, I know what I’m doing in terms of my routine and just a little bit more familiar with the places I’m going and obviously the courses as well."

Despite the obvious increase in pressure at a major, Lee won't be thinking of the ANA Inspiration in that manner.

“I think, for myself, I think of it as another event. I’m just coming to play my best and try my best. I just try and go out there and have some fun.”

Lee will tee off at 8:03am local time alongside former World No. 1 and 2011 ANA Inspiration champion Stacy Lewis.

Queenslander Karrie Webb is also among the marquee groups, paired with Annie Park at 12:47pm.

Su Oh, Katherine Kirk, Sarah Jane Smith, Sarah Kemp and Hannah Green will round out the Australian contingent.
