Amy Yang is not a prolific winner on the LPGA Tour but she is consistent enough to be inside the world top ten and this week gets a chance to advance her cause even further after taking a three shot lead over Mi Jung Hur, Candie Kung and Anna Nordqvist at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia event at the TPC Kuala Lumpur.

Both of Yang’s previous wins on the LPGA Tour have come in Asia and the 27 year old, who won on the Ladies European Tour as an amateur in 2006 as a 16 year old, appears well place to pick up another win.

Former winner Shanshan Feng is in a share of 5th position with Michelle Wie, Azaharo Munoz, Jenny Shin and Ha Na Jang who this week has the services of Jason Hamilton on the bag after he was recently released from his role with world number one Lydia Ko.

Ko is at 2 under and currently shares 23rd position after dropping three shots late in her round today.

Sarah-Jane Smith is the only Australian in the field and she is currently in 60th position.
