South Australian Adam Bland leads the Australians into the weekend at the opening domestic event of the Japan Golf Tour, the Token Homemate Cup.

Bland is in a share of 17th position at 4 under par and five shots behind the lead of Satoshi Kodaira who leads by one over China’s Wen-Chong Liang.

Bland is now into his fourth Japan Tour season and is a former winner on that tour having won the 2015 Japan PGA Championship. The 34 year old finished 49th on the money list in 2016.

Victorian Matthew Griffin is two shots behind Bland, another Victorian and Japan Tour rookie, Todd Sinnott, is at 1 under while Sydney’s Won Joon Lee is at even par and was the only other Australian to make the cut.

2015 winner and current New Zealand Open Champion, Michael Hendry, of New Zealand also just scrapped into the weekend field.
