Baddeley has displayed glimpses of some of his best form of late including when runner-up at the recent Puerto Rico Open and, just one behind leader Sungjae Im, his hopes for a 5th PGA Tour title and his first since 2016 have improved considerably.
Baddeley is tied in 2nd place with Ireland’s Paul Dunne, American Jonathan Byrd and George McNeill.
Korean, Im, was a standout on the Web.Com Tour in 2018 allowing him to graduate to the PGA Tour and with top 4 finishes in two of his last four events he has already shown he has what it takes to be a star at the higher level also.
Matt Jones was the opening round leader but he began his second round in the worst possible manner with a horrendous quintuple bogey 9 at his very first hole.
To his credit however he fought back with six birdies for a round of 1 under 71 and finds himself in a share of 7th place at 7 under and three from the lead.
John Senden in 42nd place and Curtis Luck 54th were the other two Australians to make the cut.
