The Halcyon AVGU National Golf Championships is headed to the Gold Coast in October 2017.

This national championship event is open to all AVGU registered veteran golfers. Not only will participants get to play some of the Gold Coast’s premier resort courses, there will also be plenty of entertainment off the course too.

Whilst golf is the focus for the week, the picturesque Gold Coast will offer plenty of distraction with the tournament 19th hole located at East Restaurant and Bar in Broadbeach.

Not far from the vibrant Surfers Paradise is the calm and collected Broadbeach, the tournament hub away from the golf course. Broadbeach offers incredible beaches, outstanding dining and impressive shopping. You can press your luck at the Conrad Jupiter’s Casino or have the post mortem of your round at the event’s 19th hole.

The Halcyon AVGU National Golf Championships will be played over 54 holes across RACV Royal Pines Resort, Palm Meadows and The Glades. And if three rounds of competition golf isn’t enough there are opportunities to play at up to 5 more top courses.

Palm Meadows:

Palm Meadows

Designed by leading Australian golfer Graham Marsh, Palm Meadows was one of the first championship courses on the Gold Coast. Palm Meadows emerged from 350 hectares of marshland, just a few kilometres west of Surfers Paradise. A par 72 measuring 6319 metres off the championship tees with water coming into play on 14 of the holes, along with 82 sand bunkers.

RACV Royal Pines Resort:

RACV Royal Pines

Another Graham Marsh design that has recently undergone a $10 million transformation to its 27 hole facility. Host to the Australian PGA Championship and also the recent ALPG Gold Coast Challenge it has tight fairways, undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers, each 18 hole combination has its own distinctive challenges, requiring a unique skill set in order to have a successful round.

The Glades Golf Club:

The Glades

The Glades Golf Club boasts a reputation as one of Australia’s most prestigious resort golf courses, designed by champion Australian golfing icon, Greg Norman. The course is typical of his trademark aggressive layouts offering golfers a challenging round of golf within visually stunning surrounds.

For the first time there will be a variety of other competitions with excellent prizes hosted in conjunction with the Championship. There will be a stableford competition in age and handicap divisions. Adding some interstate rivalry will be a State V State competition and a Club V Club competition for clubs that have 5 or more entrants in the Championship.
