13 Australian Courses in New Top 100 Ranking

Thirteen Australian golf courses have rated a mention in Golf Digest's latest ranking of the 100 best courses in the world outside the United States.

2018 marks the third time Golf Digest has produced its biennial list of the world's leading layouts excluding the US and leading the way among the Australian layouts was the West Course at Royal Melbourne which actually fell one spot to third on the list.

The top 10 and other local courses to make the grade were:

1. Royal County Down (Northern Ireland)

2. Royal Dornoch (Scotland)

3. Royal Melbourne - West Course (VIC)

4. Muirfield (Scotland)

5. The Old Course at St Andrews (Scotland)

6. Tara Iti (New Zealand)

7. Royal Portrush (Northern Ireland)

8. Shanqin Bay (China)

9. Cabot Cliffs (Canada)

10. Turnberry

11. Barnbougle - Dunes (TAS)

13. Kingston Heath (VIC)

18. New South Wales Golf Club (NSW)

19. Royal Melbourne - East Course (VIC)

24. Cape Wickham Links (TAS)

26. Barnbougle - Lost Farm (TAS)

31. Ellerston (NSW)

45. Victoria Golf Club (VIC)

57. Metropolitan (VIC)

85. Royal Adelaide (SA)

86. St Andrews Beach (VIC)
