Played here for the first time today & played in comp. The pro was amazingly helpful & polite, which is rare in most places. The members that I played with were also very welcoming, which was also terrific. The course itself was in very good condition, greens & fairways were great but the multitude of bunkers were ok & very inconsistent. Clubhouse was fantastic & great service also. Great experience & it would be a good top level members club but not the best course in town but that's ok! I rank it as my no 95 out of 366 played.

Played this course yesterday.  I wouldn't say I'm a massive fan.  Greens and bunkers were fairly inconsistent. Course plays fairly short.

The WA Golf Club, often referred to as Yokine Golf Club, is situated at the highest point on the Perth coastal plain. Consequently, the panoramic views from some holes are unsurpassed by any other golf courses in Perth. The 12th hole is a signature par four with the tee being at the highest point on the course. With the stunning view from this tee, one can be inspired to have a go at the green, some 240 metres away.  This can be very reachable, with a super hit and a decent tail wind.

While the course is only a par 70, it is no gimee by any means. It has three par fives, two on the front and one on the back and it has five par threes, three on the front and two on the back.

The layout is hilly and shots need to be played from a variety of positions. There is a good mix of long and short holes with water coming into play on the first and ninth. The fairways a relatively narrow, so one needs to be fairly accurate off the tees. The moderate use of fairway bunkers add to the challenge.

The good sized greens are kept in good condition and are generally moderately fast. When they are cut and rolled, they become very fast. They are all protected by a sensible array of bunkers, filled with local yellow sand. These can become hardened by watering and baking by the summer heat.

Current extensions the clubhouse will make an already attractive building even better. The lounge area has panoramic view of the city as a backdrop to the first, ninth and eighteenth holes. The lake situated between the first and ninth holes adds to the beauty of this course. A cabana at the rear of the club house and the new balcony to the side, provide excellent out door areas to relax and enjoy a drink, after the game.

The bar is open every day and meals are available for lunch, from the restaurant, Tuesday to Sunday.

Visitors are welcome but ring to check availability and arrange a time, before you come.

played this course on april 21 and what a disappointment. The fairways were unplayable - brown, with no grass at all on it. Shame as the layout was a good one. We also played many other Perth courses during our week here including Joondalup (by far the best conditioned), Vines, The Cut, Kennedy Bay, Burswood and Collier. Araluen was the biggest let down of the lot. Even with the discounted green fees, our group of 10 felt short changed, big time!

This course is fantastic! Played it last wednesday afternoon, with a member. We payed $21 for nine holes and managed to sneak in the other nine at no additional charge. It was the best $21 Ive spent to play golf in WA.

The greens are very large and true, the bunkering is intense around the greensbut well justified if you hit offline approach shots into the greens. The rough is very well maintained and gives you a bit of a chance if you spray a drive, unlike courses like Wembley and Marangaroo that are grosely unforgiving from the tee. Three putts are quite imminent, even if you hit green's in regulation. If you are not close to the flags and not on the lower side of the hole in the 1st, 5th, 8th, 11th and 12th you could be severely penalised and find yourself well past the hole if not off the green with your first putt. This course reminds me of Joondalup, New South Wales, Cabramatta and Liverpool it has it all! A true championship layout.

The pick holes for me were the par 4's 3rd, 6th, 12th and 13th. The view from the 12th tee is amazing, down to the green with Perth city and the darling ranges as a backdrop. A number of long par 3's I feel are a big strength of this course, in fact the first is 220m long, well bunkered and with a huge water hazard left. The 1st, 9th, 11th and 16th are all par 3's and are well over 160m.

This course has fantastic reward for good shotmaking, putting and strategy. It is in my top 5 best ever courses played for sure. It is a must-play for anyone who visits Perth. Despite not being a member, I have a few contacts now to get on for invitational days.
