COURSE DETAILS

Located in the picturesque wine growing region of the Swan Valley and framed by the foothills of the Darling Ranges lies Western Australia’s premier golf course, The Vines Resort.

Course architects Graham Marsh and Ross Watson skilfully and strategically used the stunning landscape to produce championship courses that command respect. Bunkers and grassy hollows are dug to the optimum depth to penalise the errant shot. The landscaping areas on the fairways, for the most part, are generous enough for the average golfer, but a premium has been put on the consequence of finishing in either bunker or water if the ball goes astray.

The 36-hole layout consists of two world class championship courses the Lakes and Ellenbrook. The Ellenbrook Course is available 365 days a year and access to the Lakes member’s course, is available on nominated days throughout the year. The experienced golfers will find plenty of challenge from the championship tees while social players will have as much enjoyment from more generous tee positions.

paid $75 for 18. Course should have been shut down. The staff were trying to repair bunkers with large pools of water in them. On one approach shot their were 10 groundsmen in the greenside bunkers. And bunkers were GUR. we had groundmen following us up the fairway on numerous holes, engines running or mowing the greens we were playing to. On one tee off they drove straight up the fairway while my friend was mid swing.

Played The Lakes Course twice this week when staying at the resort. Recently cored so experience wasn't great but okay with preferred lies in place. Liked the layout however very over-priced for what isn't up to "resort" standard. Members are mostly friendly however tend to be slow players. Good food from the Greenside Cafe albeit a bit pricey.

Worst course in Perth, especially considering they are trying to charge $90 to play there. I'm a member of PGN so I get green fees for $40 on comp day but I wouldn't play this course for free. Imagine trying to play in an official comp and having to putt on greens literally covered in duck sh*t that haven't been mowed in days. Or landing in a bunker full to the top with water so you have to take an unplayable lie and lose a stroke. How about turning the sprinklers on so not only do you have to putt while getting soaked but also putt through centimetre deep water. Yes, you too can enjoy all these things and more at The Vines.

Played here today with members. Teed off at 630am and overtook Japanese tourists who were very slow after 3 holes. Course was in great nick from tee off, fairways, bunkers + greens.Greens were challenging but fair. My favourite hole was the 174m par 3 16th. Generally, all the par 3's were long. Fairways were fairly forgiving so if you play with a fade then you will be make most fairways. I think the good players will find this course layout less challenging than others.
