Araluen Golf Resort
18 Holes
PAR 72
5953 M

A challenging 18 holes of championship golf designed by Roger Mackay and Michael Coate, bordered by state forest and the Canning River, featuring large undulating greens, testing changes of elevation and strategically placed water hazards and bunkers.

Wide impeccably manicured fairways contribute to the unique character of this very special course which is truly one of nature’s most picturesque playing fields.

A fleet of 50 golf carts, complemented by continuous cart paths, means golf can be played 12 months of the year. Other facilities include a driving range, two short game practice areas, and two tennis courts. The golf course is complemented by an impressive clubhouse, providing breathtaking views of the enchanted valley.

Played Araluen for the first time this week. Excellent layout, some spectacular holes, great greens and plenty of roll out of the fairways. Good challenge of golf.

Course is mainly let down by the fact they charge top dollar yet lack any course management in keeping play moving. Wasn’t a huge fan of the gravel/sand bunkers either and be advised take an old club to get yourself out and of the stone rough if you’re playing in any comps. Probably suffers a bit with being pretty far away from Perth CBD but still worth a hit if you’ve never played it. Allow at least 5 painfully slow hours though. Unlike some others on here didn’t  find the greens that fast on the day.

Played here yesterday. Best course in Perth. Greens were perfect, not unplayable like a lot of people are complaining about. Either go to a flatter course or get better at golf. Simple. I'm not that great at putting and I had 31 putts.

Good mix of straight driving holes, dog legs, and drivable par 4s. The slopes and hard fairways really make it fun.

The bunkers have plenty of sand in them so they are lovely to play from. Since it's a public course they don't get raked well by the patrons so my mates and I just make our own lift and place rule. It's not like we play comps there. Some people get a bit serious. Especially 11 handicappers playing there socially who need everything to be perfect. You play off 11 for god's sake. When you get good at golf, then we can talk about the bunkers.

And another thing, this course is built in the Perth hills. This means gravel. That's just how it is. If your ball lands on gravel, move your ball. Again, are you playing for thousands of dollars? Stop taking golf so seriously and have some fun. Reminder: you play off 11.

And finally, the best three finishing holes in Western Australia by far. Love it.

I would completely agree with ROWIE. Played this course twice in the last month. Ive always liked the scenery. But this course has gone downhill. The greens are too hard for a social golfer. They are very fast and undulating. Each flag seemed to be sitting on a bump so if you missed you ended up miles away. Everyone in the group was hesitant over every putt even close ones because the balls were moving so much and the flags all on slopes.  It was like playing a nasty game of mini golf. This is not set up for social golf . The fairways are rock hard  - 2 or my irons are now damaged - one clubface chipped and one sole has a deep scratch.  The bunkers are not maintained and have many stones in them and are rock hard in some patches too. There is no starter or the pro shop doesnt manage the tee times well because we came off the 9th and when we went to the 10th tee there were many groups waiting and many of them were just starting 9 hole rounds on the 10th. The scenery surrounding this course is stunning but the course itself has really fallen away now.

Management here needs improvement. Played mid-week (special for $65). Course in okay nick (hardly manicured though) however cart paths are in a poor state. The "rough" is scrubby dirt and likely to damage your clubs. Greens are impossibly hard for a social golfer (I'm off 11) and totally ruins the experience. Played with a retired local couple who were 3 & 4 putting most greens. High winds and freezing cold didn't help nor does the large number of blind tee & fairway shots. Pro Shop welcome was rather ordinary too. Won't be going back.
