Bremer Bay's 18 hole sand green course is set on natural undulating terrain with rolling fairways, wildflowers and some great outlooks over Point Henry Peninsula and the Southern Ocean. There are no hazards on the course but the thick heath scrub that line the fairways will punish any wayward shot with any retrieval almost impossible. The thick scrub also keeps each hole secluded from each other and as you stroll down the fairway you really feel like you're the only person on the course. The greens are quite large for oil greens and are pleasant to putt on. They are some of the best sand greens you'll play on and resemble a similar speed to grass. Highlights on the front nine include the 317m left dogleg par 4 6th with a large fairway mound to carry and the 508m par 5 8th with an elevated tee and a real test if the wind is in your face. The back nine opens up with an elevated tee shot toward the bay and a left bending fairway to an elevated green. The 14th, 15th and 16th all play beside the ocean with the sound of waves crashing in from beyond the native scrub. The par 3s on this course are all similar in length but depending on the wind direction and elevation they all play quite differently. In fact, the strength and direction of the wind is the real test at Bremer Bay and with little run on the fairways you'll be taking a long iron into the greens more often than you think. The natural setting and the peaceful sounds of the waves rolling in really make for a relaxing round of golf and a challenging layout should encourage golfers to have a hit at one of the most scenic courses on Western Australia's south coast. $15 for 18 holes.
