Eighteen Holes Tuesday 27th Jan 2009. 1:00pm start, 41 degree day. Hot, dry, dusty, 41 degree day without a breath of wind. I always said id play a round of golf at Yea, but i could have possibly picked a better day! The course layout is very unique with the course being intertwined with the Yea Racetrack. The fairways are hard dry and dusty due to the water issues the area is currently experiencing. Preferred lies are almost a must. The greens however are in great condition, and seem to be watered regularly. The course itself isnt to challenging, and the green fees are fantastic value $6 for 9 holes and $12 for 18 holes. I probably will be back, but i might see how the course looks in winter time when there is a bit more water around.

Eighteen Holes Sun 2 Mar 2008. Starting around 4:00pm. HCP n/a. Eighteen Holes Mon 3 Mar 2008. Starting around 8:00am. HCP n/a.

The course is set on and around the Yea Racetrack which makes for some interesting local rules around hoof marks and railings… for Melbourne Metro golfers – the first nine like Wattle Park – up and down across a creek (dry when I played). The second nine are flat like Burnley, just longer. Greens OK and slow but some are not much better than Studley park’s.

Green fees are fantastic value – $12 for 18 (there’s a box on the side of the clubhouse for fees). Overall I had a lot of fun with this course. If you are playing there for the first time watch out for the dam on #12. It’s about three quarters of the way along the fairway but you can’t see it from the tee. Play left of the trees near the green to be safe. Also when you reach #13 you play in the same direction as #12 (West) the first time I played I went the wrong way hitting to #16 green.

Overall really enjoyable, the scenery is very pretty and it was peaceful as I was the only player on the course on Sunday evening.
