The Wangaratta Golf Club is a gentle, undulating, fully watered 18 hole (Par 72) course set on the grounds of the historic Waldara Homestead (built in 1886) and just on the north west edge of the town centre on the Yarrawonga Road.

The club came into existence in 1906, and developed the old Waldara Estate into a modern golf links in 1963.

We welcome visitors to our area and particularly welcome members of our reciprocal clubs.

Our club is currently accepting new members.

Wangaratta well deserves its reputation as the Gateway to Northeast Victoria with its famous wines, epicurian delights, snowsport, rivers, railtrail bike riding and national parks.

The Wangaratta Golf Club at the Waldara Estate measures 5976m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 151-170m, ten par 4s ranging from 287-387m and four par 5s ranging from 434-513m. Course has a mixture of Santa Ana couch and winter ryegrass fairways and teebeds. The 15-20m long small-medium sized bentgrass greens are a little patchy in areas but has good roll with mostly ryegrass green surrounds. However, the greens are mostly flat and are not very fast. In terms of hazards, there are 2 small ponds (on the 1st and in front of the 6th tee) with only 2 bunkerless holes (at 1 and 5) and a total of 24 bunkers on the course. Highlights include: the 287m opening slight bend right 1st (index 10) with a red-staked pond on the dogleg right corner with OOB homes along the far right; the 170m slightly downhill 2nd (index 6) with a bunker short left and OOB homes along the far right; the 151m 12th (index 15) with 2 bunkers short right and long left; the 370m slight bend left 13th (index 5) to a green guarded by 2 bunkers; the 387m slight bend right 14th (index 3) with a small crest 240m off the tee to a green guarded by a bunker short left; and the 513m straight 15th (index 1) with the OOB Three Mile Creek far right to a green with 2 shortside bunkers. Not an overly challenging and quite a short Par 72-layout with sparsely planted wide tree-lined fairways and flat greens. The natural Three Mile Creek flows along the eastern boundary of the course, but does not generally come into play on any hole. However, the orientation of the holes does change throughout round which makes you think about club selection if there is any wind out there The par 3s are similar too each other and are not well bunkered with the 163m-5th and 159m-17th playing gently uphill to the green. The par 5s are short and weak, and apart from the 15th, all can be reached in 2 shots. On the longer par 4 and par 5 holes most flags are not visible from the teebeds with nearly all having a slight bend left or right. The club was established in 1906 and course access is from Waldara Drive, off Yarrawonga Road (C374) about 5km north of the city centre. Played here 12th August 2012 with $20 green fees 7 days a week. Wangaratta is one of TWO golf courses within the city of around 20000 people, the other being Jubilee which is slightly longer but much less bunkered than Wangaratta. Both courses play fairly similar to each other, with Jubilee being slightly more challenging, but equally well-conditioned to Wangaratta.

Wangaratta is a fantastic all year round course, it is covered in well established trees and the fairways are well defined. The course is full irrigated and, the massive improvement over the last 12 months has been spectacular. The curators work on the greens and tees is obvious to anyone who may have played here before his time. Thye Greens run true and are reletively quick. And the bunkers are well groomed.
