This tight and challenging course on the Victorian side of the
Murray River is a delight to play. The irrigated fairways are as
good as any of the more highly rated Murray River courses,
courtesy of the lush coverage of Bermuda couch, the sprigs for
which were transported from the Tocumwal course, further down the
Murray. Whilst the rough and tree lines are not threatening, the
fairways are reasonably narrow and some strategicly placed water
hazards require precision off the tee and accurate irons into the
greens. For those not used to playing sandscrapes, hitting the
small putting surface in regulation can be difficult, but the
flat surrounds and absense of bunkers make for relatively easy
bump and run chipping to the flag stick. The way the course is
maintained is an absolute credit to the volunteer members. The
Clubhouse is a further treat, with its beauitifully presented bar
and air-conditioned lounge. Well done Walwa; we look forward to
playing your course again in the near future.
