Waverley Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 71

Waverley Golf Club is located 30 minutes drive from Melbourne City along the Monash Freeway in the suburb of Rowville. Our course with a par of 72 and over 5915 metres with an ACR of 71, is highly ranked as one of the best non sandbelt courses in Melbourne. The course has an abundance of trees with rolling watered fairways carved into the surroundings, it is well bunkered, and offers the golfer some exciting challenges.

Straight and dogleg fairways with fast greens make for a real contest between golfer and course. Built in the 60’s it is a traditional course set on 125 acres at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges. The modern clubhouse overlooks the course.

Played Waverley GC today for the first time and while it was in good condition you are constantly playing shots from under and around an electricity power station, you can actually hear the power lines buzzing! I had TWO shots that struck the lines above on two different holes! The course is very tight in some places and has many undulating fairways lined with mature trees. Some of the tee box positions are also questionable (9th) if you can't play a fade you will be playing into the green from the 1st fairway! There was plenty of shouts of 'fore' from through out the course! It has well bunkered greens that have both large and small target areas. The greens were pretty quick today with pin placements in tough positions due to Junior Pennant. We just could not get our heads around the amount of power lines! Will give it another crack with the $25 Greatrounds special they have out there at the moment.

Played Waverley for the first time during the week, and was quite disappointed. The fairways and greens were in good condition however the overhead power lines are distracting and come into play on too many holes. I found the course a little derivative with back and forth up and down hills being constantly repeated also the surrounding roads are distracting and come into play on a number of holes a prime example is the 7th hole which is played along the boundary fence and the green tucked into a corner surrounded by busy roads. More screening or subtle re-direction of the holes away from major roads would be beneficial.

Nice course. Has a few good hills to walk. Renovations still on going to change the course but doesn't interfere with your round. Technically a members course it still takes green fee players which has advantages over the true public courses.

Not overly long but there’s enough challenge from the tight fairways, hills, bunker placement and fast greens. Not a fan of the power lines that cut through the course and the fairways on some holes r a bit patchy due to the dry weather. but enjoyed my round ere favourite holes 3,4,12,16 & 17

Waverley has true, fast-paced greens. Each putt requires a good read and distance control, making one-putts all the more pleasurable. Not overly long, scoring can prove difficult when your tee shot is not well-positioned. It is often wise to leave the ‘Big Boy’ in the bag, as a well-managed round will prove more fruitful. Enjoyed the layout, the highlight being the course’s number 1 indexed hole (dog-leg 4th with raised, two-tiered green) and the backdrop of the Dandenong Ranges on the following par 3.
