Really good track, played it for the first time recently. Fairways, hole strategy, and overall layout and look of the course are all top shelf. Have played all sandbelt courses now (except Yarra Yarra), and this one is right up there with the best of them

Played the Commonwealth on a typical Melbourne day. Found the practice facilities first class as you'd expect for the sand belt starting with the range and although short the balls were high quality. Chipping area was great and the bunkers were beautiful however they weren't out on the course. Proshop and clubhouse facilities were fantastic also. The fairways an greens were the standout of the course and the par 3s were a real treat to play. However, trouble on the treacherous 11h green derailed an acceptable round finding thick rough long of the green, the flag perched on the back tier. The chip went through the green and into he front bunker. However the sandblast bunkers of the commonwealth lacked The phone no you gave me for the driving instructor is incorrect. Can u resend it to the consistency in the amount of sand and people not raking the bunkers properly. My ball found the downslope of bunker and hard pan so the ball should roll onto the flat. But no, skull over the green, and lost a half decent round because someone raked the slope of the bunker. Very disappointing but I found all the bunkers, free side to not have enough sand and the fairway bunkers to have too much sand and very difficult to hit out of. Overall a great day and would definately come back next time I'm in Melbourne

Wonderful players course, the improvements over last 12 months will see the course continue to climb the rankings. Hard to find a course that is so fair, play well score well, play poorly score poorly. Only one or two greens tricked up, and the fairways, bunkers and greens have to be in the best condition of any sandbelt course i have played including KH.

Played here last Friday and loved every second, the course has really improved since the last time I played here 18 months ago. Joined two members for my round and they were very friendly and very informative about the planned improvements for Commonwealth over the coming 3 years. A key improvement that they are implementing in is a heavy tree planting program along the eastern fence that runs along 4, 5 and 6 to hide the tip next door. Lots of trees have been cleared which was really needed especially on the 1st. The main thing I noticed was the clubhouse renovation that you cant notice on the outside, but once you are inside it has been opened out a lot and modernised, especially the pro shop. A great Friday arvo out, hoping to play there again soon.

I think the poa greens is the let down on this course. One green (index 1) is abit too un-fair, just like 15th at Henley. Saw a chap hcp 10, putted down towards the hole and off the green AFTER shower !

Played Commonwealth a number of times over past 2 years. Condition has always been excellent. Great greens ... and not easy. Not overly long but you have to think yourself around the course and most holes have a definite bias towards coming in from one side of the fairway. Par 5s good, Par 4s excellent and Par 3 a bit so so. (Short and few). 10,11,12 a great stretch and 16 another cracker with the dog leg around the corner.
