Gotta be the best 9-hole course in Melbourne & VIC for that matter. Hardly rates a mention as a sandbelt course probably because it is public access.

I played here last week and was extremely impressed. Value for money is unprecedented here. The quality of the greens and fairways at this late stage of the summer is unheard of for a public course that is  so easily accessible from the CBD. Value vs condition and challenge 5stars

Played there last week after a round at Victoria. Usually it would be hard to be impressed with this sort of course after playing one of the great sandbelt courses but it was up frontage test. A great little challenging 9 holer, Starts with a few short tight par fours then you have a pair of nice little par 3's followed by the par 5 which is of decent design. 8 and 9 are the 2 longer holes and are also really nice designs. Greens were good bunkers were good and fairways were nice. Note: the 4 stars is for the price scale on this.

Small and well bunked greens, you definitely have to play for accuracy not distance. There is pretty much no sand In some bunkers, if it rained the day before the greenside bunkers can be hard to get out of with the high lip. There isn't any rough on this course like most sandbelt courses but thoses trees are dangerous.

Played here quite often in 2013 and 2014. This is a great little 9 holer with very tight fairways which make it a difficult 9 to play. A couple of short par 4's could be a bit longer but the overall 9 holes is quite challenging and would be enjoyed by most experienced golfers. Chelt is always in great nick wet or dry. Definitely comparable in condition to the surrounding sand-belt courses.

Have played Cheltenham many times over the years, and highly recommend it. It's fairways are much better than any other public course in the area and a pleasure to hit off, the greens are small with mostly subtle breaks and it's reasonably well bunkered but a little bit inconsistent, some have plenty of sand and some have almost none. It's a short course that will still challenge the better golfer and with a slope rating of 128 it's difficulty is on par with most of the private Sandbelt clubs, this is due in a large part to the fact it's so tight. Hitting fairways here is essential to scoring well and missing by just a few metres often leaves you chipping out sideways, not to mention there is OOB present on 7 of the 9 holes. Best holes imo are 4,5 and 8.
