Played Warragul for the first time last week and have to say that I left feeling a bit disappointed. I had heard good things however found the course untidy, you just roll into the rough which your ball often does on the slopes and you were lucky to find your ball, bunkers were like playing down on the beach, some fairways in good condition however most still patchy at best. I would be rushing back any time soon.

A solid country golf course. Tree-lined fairways & regular elevation changes make this a picturesque setting for golf. The course was in excellent condition throughout my last round in mid-February 2013. Slowish, steady greens and consistent bunkers, lush fairways and variety from hole to hole that should keep your attention from start to finish.

A great course with lots of challenging holes, and overall the course is in great conditions. Friendly staff and a great bistro. I will be back soon.

Played Warragul yesterday after trying to get on to Traf originally. Warragul is a very nice parkland course, built up and over the crest of a couple of hills, "undulating" would be a good word to describe it. It's not overly long though, but it is a strategic golf course, where finding the fairway is paramount as large trees can block out any subsequent iron shot, after a wayward tee shot. The course plays uphill, downhill and along the side of hills, with lots of holes involving dramatic changes in elevation. The course conditions themselves .... tees and fairways are currently in excellent condition (with no unrepaired divot marks in sight). The greens while on the small side, were rolling true and have subtle breaks that you need to judge just right, in order to score well. The bunkers were well maintained and didn't have an overabundance of sand, like some courses these days. If there is to be a criticism of Warragul Country Club, it's the par 3's, which all seem to be of similar length. I played at least three of them using the same club (5 iron)off the tee. Having said that, they all played to about 170 downhill, or across a "ravine", so there is always a challenge in them. Perhaps I just caught the course on a day when the groundstaff were being a little unadventureous in their tee placements. Like the previous reviewer stated, the front nine is tighter with well defined treelines marking the fairways edge, whereas the back nine opens out more, and allows for more opening of the shoulders. Having said that, there is no "undergrowth" on the course to swallow your golf balls, so even errant tee shots can be found quickly. A couple of holes have water nearby, but shouldn't come into play. Overall, its a great little parkland type golf course, that will also give you a bit of exercise if you don't wish to grab a cart. The local members that I met on my travels (most of them slightly older than myself as you would expect for a Monday morning) ........ were all super friendly and welcoming ........ In summing up, I had a lovely relaxed round of golf in a peaceful, friendly, country parkland setting ..... and found another hidden gem of a golf course, that its members can be truly proud of.

Played Warragul recently and was impressed. For $25 you really get a good variety of holes with the front 9 being very hilly and quite tight and the back nine much more open and flatter. Not sure why but it seemed like Warragul doesn't wake up until 11am as we had the course pretty much to ourselves. Course is in great condition, the fairways especially. The greens were quick and quite small. Bunkering was minimal but well sanded which makes a nice change. Overall a very good course made better by the Bistro in the clubhouse. Huge selection of food and very helpful staff. Would recommend playing early and staying for lunch. The ProShop is also well stocked and had some good buys and membership is dirt cheap if you live more than 50kms from Warragul - $265. If you live in Berwick, Beaconsfield it's a 30-35min drive away. Very impressed and I will be playing Warragul again.

This is the best course in Gippsland. Forget the rest, this is it ! Lovely grass to hit off and not a weed on the fairways or greens. Pro shop staff very friendly and a well stocked shop. Bistro after golf was 5 star. I recommend to all city players to drive the extra few minutes and play Warragul.
