Phillip Island & Gippsland
Traralgon Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 72
5897 M

The Traralgon Golf Club offers players and visitors, one of the finest venues in Victoria.

A superb 18-hole course with grass greens, fully watered fairways and not too many bunkers.

The course has a Tuesday mid-week competition which, if you are a member of a club and have a handicap, you can play in.

Greg Norman won his second professional event at the Traralgon Loy Yang Classic in 1978.

In 1979, the Great White Shark returned to Traralgon and successfully defended his title. In those days it was a fully fledged four day tournament.

Ian Stanley, Wayne Grady, Ian Baker-Finch and Peter Senior have also graced the fairways of Traralgon Golf Club.

Has some tough holes (par 5 8th springs to mind - possible to putt off the green, the 14th is a strong par 4), some entertaining holes (277m par 4 4th - have a bash!) and some ordinary holes (350m par 4 1st, 318m par 4 9th, and the other par 5s aren't overly strong). The valley can make for some very strong east-west winds, and an easterly especially has three of the par 5s playing across wind and one into the teeth, so par 5 scoring opportunities get interesting... no pushovers. All told, it's not a strategic masterpiece, but neither does it pretend to be. It's a friendly country club with a course that can be difficult to score on in the wind

Wow, no ratings... For a course Greg Norman began his professional career on.. Average country course. Greens can be very good, fairways are improving, course will never be interesting.
