I had the pleasure of playing a lazy 9 hole at Drouin last Friday, the course is an absolute gem Santa Anna fairways to die for, pure putting surface, really nice layout a good test of golf and they had half price green fees on Monday & Friday. $15 for 27 great golf holes, get out and check it out!

The fun aspect of this course is the old horse racing track which runs through it, providing (at times) an additional hazard. Other than that it's a standard country course - plenty of trees and a few hills. The greens were a tad bumpy and slow - looked like they'd been cored a couple of weeks before. Fairly cheap - so grab a cart and play all 27 holes. I played on a weekday during school holidays and did the lot in just over 4 hours - only saw a couple of other players all day.

Played Drouin the other day, in fantastic nick, you won't find better fairways on any country course and they have 27 holes. The layout is also very interesting with a great variety of holes. Beautiful new clubhouse as well and the Pro was very friendly. You must be kidding Oldnut, have also played Warragul, was in o.k condition but the front nine is mountain goat country and the back nine uninteresting. Drouin also 10 mins closer to melbourne.

Do yourself a favour and drive the extra 5 minutes to Warragul Country Club. Warragul has lovely grass to hit off, dry course all year round, playable bunkers, great food and most of all friendly members.

Used to play here often about 12 years ago and returned this week. Drouin has always been challenging but fair. Has certainly improved with the fairways in very good shape. The greens are true and faster than they look but on some holes are too small for the length of the approach. Overall it's a good test of golfing prowess and well worth playing. Being within an hour of Melbourne's eastern suburbs, you won't waste your trip.

Im a drouin local and would like it if people would stop raving about our course, we dont want it to get too busy. But yes it is a gem, fairways have been worked on and the greens have a true roll on them. Personally i like the back back nine 19-27. its the old course and its very challenging and well kept, the front nine looks great with the santa ana couch fairways, and with a couple more trees it will be a great course.
