COURSE DETAILS

Set amidst more than 150 hectares of rolling coastal sand hills in "The Cups" region of the Mornington Peninsula, The Dunes 18 hole championship course has been designed to exploit the natural beauty of the terrain, while providing a true test of skill and judgment for golfers of every level.

The abundant charm of the par 72 layout is dramatically enhanced by the technical merit of the course. At 6,409 meters in length, the sloping fairways meander through undulating knolls and ridges, leading to expansive greens that are typically sheltered in a natural amphitheatre or exposed on elevated promontories to the full force of the elements.

The firmness of the greens is something to behold, with 30" and 40" putts definitely make able if you can read the line.

Another glorious feature of the course, the trademark natural bunkering and prevalence of native grasses ensure every aspect of your game is relentlessly challenged, with the rough tormenting any player who ventures wide of the fairway.

The constantly changing contours ensure that each hole is as individual as they are demanding, while the unpredictable weather of Bass Strait further accentuates the rich and varied character of The Dunes Golf Links.

Played here for the first time 3 weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Fantastic golf course, great conditioning and some really cracking golf holes. Plenty of par 4s that don't require driver which makes it very playable. Can't wait to play it again.

Outstanding. First time playing here and will certainly be returning. Course conditions are excellent, firm greens made some approach shots difficulty to hold on the green but that's links golf. Love the layout and the risk reward of some of the tee shots. Par 3s were especially memorable given the little room for error. Great test of golf.

Simply Stunning

I played the dunes recently and was blown away by this incredible golf course.

This was my first trip to a "Proper" golf course for some time, on the way there I was feeling intimidated by the thought of snobbish golfers and cold unfriendly staff.

How I was wrong, the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming as were the other players.

I cannot speak highly enough of the Dunes it is an absolute treasure!

Cups

Great course with 27 holes, the 9 holes Cups course is great for a social round or beginners.

The main Dunes Course is amazing, played the blue tees and it was tough let alone going to the blacks. Course condition was amazing, layout and views also amazing. They provide a course guide with pin position map too. Must play if you are in the area just avoid the black tee challenge Tuesday unless you want a 5 hour plus round ;)

Dunes
Fantastic course, tried to pick my spot after reading some reviews but still got stuck behind a fourball on the back 9 who managed to lose a ball in a bunker along with other things....... Course was in pretty good knick never got a bad lie on the fairways. the greens had some dirt and some evidence of recovering from coring but overall a cracker of a course. Wind plays a big part here, when you are downwind pull out the driver and let it rip............ will definitely be back

I've played this course perhaps 30 times over the last 15 years. It's a magnificent layout possibly only tarnished by the 6th hole which is now even more ridiculous with the addition of that front bunker guarding the only available shot to the front pin position. I'm personally not a fan of the new 15th and 16th hole. The 16th in particular was a very tough par 4 and is now a very wide and easy par 5 of virtually the same length. We played on the 11th of January just as the greens were starting to brown off. It's still the best value in the region and is in great condition but I think the 3 changes I have seen to the course - bunker in front of 6, new 15th and 16th have actually decreased the enjoyment and challenge.
