Sorrento Golf Course is a well groomed, hilly course with all year playability set on a sand and limestone base.

Its generous fairways and roughs are surrounded by densely wooded plantations, and bent grass greens are moderately to heavily bunkered.

Super golf course. Played here the 28th of February 2014. Perfectly manicured fairways and greens. The course itself is very interesting with a new challenge each and every hole. Although it reads short on the score card it plays longer with many hills and furrows. I'd recommend it extremely highly. I probably wouldn't play it in winter as it would be rather cold and windy.

I had the great opportunity to renew aquaintances with this "hidden gem" on 20th June. I was trying to think when I last played there and it must be over 20 years. I couldn't remember many of the holes but I still have fond (fading) memories of it and how much I liked it. I was not dissapointed on this occasion. It isn't a long course but there are subtle slops, hazards and sloping greens to make it tough; throw in some wind and it would become very difficult. We were lucky last Thursday, as the wind wasn't too strong and it was fine and sunny. Greens were quite quick but rolled very smooth. The trick is to put your ball below the holes as it can be very quick down hill. Bunkers were well presented and maintained, the fairways were lush with a lot of deep rough should you miss the fairway. The clubhouse is currently undergoing renervations; and it appears, expansion. It will look terrific when it's finished. In summing up - This is a course that can suit all just need to plot your way around and you don't have to be long off the tee. Comparing this course with another favourite of mine, down that way, (Portsea)and I nearly give the points to Sorrento. Definately a must and a course I look forward to revisiting.

Sorrento is a true test of golf, with the emphasis on accuracy rather than brute strength. Superb fast greens and a great mixture of short and long holes. Not as picturesque as it used to be, due to an over-zealous committee replacing the towering pine trees with nondescript native shrubs.

Sorrento for the longer hitter can be an easy course, the main issue being you must play the ball to the correct position on the fairways to maximise your oportunities. There are more birdie chances on the front nine than the back. If you play straight there are few problems but wide shots can be severely penalised. A most enjoyable place to play golf.

Sorrento is a traditional golf course with a long history and with some famous members form the past. While Sorrrento may not be everybodys cup of tea, the thing that struck me about this course was the magnificent greens that were fast and receptive. Sorrento is an undulating course which is not overly penal mainly putting an emphasis on precision over length. There are a good variety of dogleg holes and the typical Mackenzie style bunkering. Standout holes here are the 2nd, 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th a gem of a par 3, 16 and the great finishing hole where you second shot must be accurate.. Shot a 65 and left with nothing but praise for this little gem!
