COURSE DETAILS

One of the premier golf complexes in Australia, Moonah Links is home to 36 holes of world-class golf.

The Open Course at Moonah Links was designed by five-time Open Championship winner Peter Thomson specifically to host major tournaments.

A natural stadium layout with wide undulating fairways of pure couch grass, punctuated with pot bunkers leading onto large multi-tiered greens, the Open Course hosted the Australian Open in 2003 and 2005 and the Web.com Tour's Moonah Classic from 2008 to 2010.

As a purpose-built stadium course, the Open Course offers unsurpassed vantage points for spectator viewing.

In recent years, the Legends Course at Moonah Links has developed into perhaps the better of the two courses and was rated the 33rd best course in the nation in the Australian Golf Digest 2018 rankings.

A true test of golf. The Open course is long & difficult & needs continuous course management to avoid hazards & the many fairway bunkers. Would hate to play it on a windy day! Legends course is aesthetically nicer but the Open course is much harder. Slope rating of 144 speaks for itself!

I played the Open Course this week and fair to say as 1 handicap golfer i was looking forward to playing this course. My experience was mixed..... the facilities are fantastic, great club house, practice range and putting greens.  The course however left me a little disappointed.  There is a serious poa problem on the fairways and they were average at best. ......certainly below the standard you would expect from such a highly rated course.  The greens were beautiful, smooth, true and firm......there were some great holes but from the whites it was not a long course. Overall it was a good day but there are many courses in better condition on the Peninsula

Played the course Friday just passed. The condition of the course, the diversity hole to hole and the facilities are all top notch. It certainly is a course which rewards those who have played it before or have researched it for a few semi-blind tee shots and certain landing/lay up areas. The holes from 13 through 18 are a great test and finishing stretch. Overall, I think this is a must play course when visiting the Mornington Peninsula.

Played here on the 2nd Jan in an Open Comp at the supposed 'Home of Australian Golf'. It was a fine but windy day which made for a very tricky round of golf on what has to be one of the most unforgiving tracks in the country. The topography of the golf course makes it a must to have a cart and one that creates many uncomfortable tee shots. The green surrounds were particularly difficult with bent grass used for the aprons of the greens as well as the surfaces which makes identifying the green from approaches quite hard, although pure to chip off. The only real disappointing feature of the course, was the way the bunkers were spread across the fairways in an almost random fashion. However, the facilities on offer both pre and post round personify Moonah Links character. Overall, a very enjoyable round, would have hated to play it off the back tees that day

Loved this golf course. Definitely makes you think all the time if you have the right club, especially on the par 3's if they are into the wind Some of the sprinklers had distance markers others did not

My husband and I are from Perth and we decided to spend time in Rye so we could try a couple of the area's famous courses. We played this second, and have to say it was in fabulous condition, loved the blind tee shots, sloping uphill greens - well, maybe that is too strong a word, but whichever way you look at it, this course is a real test of all your golfing skills, or lack thereof! Even though we didn't star by any means, we really enjoyed the experience of playing such a world class golf course. We won't hesitate to play here again if - when - we return.
