Lay out is good can't say the same for the condition of the greens and bunkers.

Most of the bunkers had foot prints and hollows from where payers had played a short but were too lazy to rake the bunker once they had finished.

The greens look like they are well over due for some coring there were patches of dead and dying grass as well as some of the greens looked like the surface of the moon due to all the pitch marks on them.

A very good layout  with some quirky bits. The tree in the middle of the drive line on 16th is odd - the 18th one of the toughest final holes in Melbourne. Largely its in good condition - the bunkers however are not - I  do not understand why people do not rake bunkers or repair pitch marks.

Enjoy this course overall as it provides a fair challenge and has some fantastic holes such as the long par 3 13th. The 18th is easily one of the best and most difficult finishing holes I've played. However, the layout is fairly good but a few additions that had me stratching my head. The deep "fairway bunkers" on the 6th, the tree in the middle of the 16th fairway, the simplicity of the opening hole and the tiny 4th green.  Finally, the green fees could be lower and could probably attract more golfers.

Played with a group of 3, mid morning on a weekend - fair weather. Didn't see a single other group. Made for a quick round but actually a bit odd. Most would see this as a positive I'm sure.

The fairways were tip top, big, spacious, and lush.

The layout is average to poor - silly walks through roads and around large sections to get to the next tee. 9th doesn't end anywhere near the clubhouse.

Our biggest annoyance was the almost compelte lack of singage on the tee boxes - and a huge number of "multiple" tee boxes, which as not signed made the layout genuinely confusing.

If this course was $30 I'd go back, for for $50, no thanks.

With the use of the 2015 "The Golf Course Guide" have just played Waterford Valley. The cost at $25 each for 2 players (two for one offer and the ability to use it 5 times in the one year) after 1100 am on a Saturday is exceptional value in itself, however, the main reason for writing this review is to say what a magnificent layout Waterford Valley really is, for all levels of golfer. The course is superbly designed and maintained with great facilities and infrastructure. In my 45 years playing golf, twenty as a private club member, I have played most of Melbourne's great courses and can honestly say Waterford Valley is up there with all of them. Its a great course and I look forward to my next game there.

Played here on the 27th December and had a great time. Most of the course was in fantastic condition only bad part was the bunkers. I found 6 of them and had 14 shots out of them and usually get out alright. On the back 9 the netting in bunkers was visible and way to shallow so conventional techniques didn't work and I had 2 balls plug under lips. Other than that it was amazing. Greens were true and consistent fairways lush and consistent and most rough was not to punishing. Watch out for water here as its lurking on most holes, mostly visible but a few holes have hidden water hazards. A few hacks around when we played which slowed it up a bit but that's part of public golf.
