Terrible course.  The course is so small that you run the risk of hitting your ball onto busy Springvale Road. Cheap, but small and poorly managed.

One of the better public courses in Melbourne. Course was in reasonable condition when I was there, had an absolute blast with the couple I was paired up with. On playability - course is a little bit short. The longer hitters may want to consider teeing off with a fairway wood on some of the Par 4s here, for fear of overshooting the green.(I had my tee shot land on the green on the 4th hole for a chance at eagle - note the word "chance"). Some water hazards are present, players that are able to work balls around dog legs are advised to be mindful of the second hole as your tee shot may well end up in water. Bunkers are generous in number, protecting greens on most holes. Overall, great little 9 hole course. Would I return? You bet, not least because I want that eagle I missed out on :(

I've played Spring Park for the last 25 years. I find myself squeezing in a round there at leat once a month when I have a spare hour and a half. Its great fun. Very busy on the weekends & at tradesmen knock off time-(4pm on). Very cheap and very picturesque. I believe 30+ years ago it was 6 holes of Southern Golf club's (across the road). 3 holes were added to make the short 9 when Southern acquired more land. Fairways can be patchy, but theres always the unwritten rule of a free drop from a dirt lie on a fairway. Lovely bunkering, green's are pretty soft and slow but I think that's ideal for a beginner course like this. The par 5 6th is a great hole. Aim a fade 5 meters left of the big gum on the right corner, and watch it sail around the corner to leave 170-200 approach. Drive too straight and you'll cross the fairway to the left and be all out of position for your eagle attack! I've always loved that hole. A very short par 33 course (I've had 5 34's dammit. Compared to absolute junk 9 holers like Burnley and Elsternwick, this trounces them in spades....heaps of fun.

Measures 2205m Par 33 with four par 3s ranging from 105-171m, four short par 4s ranging from 269-312m and the 472m Par 5 dogleg right 6th with 2 bunkers guarding the green. Fairways are a little bare in places, teebeds are bunpy with dirt patches everywhere, and greens are slowish. Highlights are the 312m dogleg left 2nd with a pond on the dogleg left corner to a bunkerless green. The opening 287m 1st is straight with 4 bunkers guarding the green. Also the 160m 9th is a testing teeshot over 2 bunkers guarding the green shortside. Played here 11/11/2010 with green fees $13 after 4pm otherwise $15 weekdays or $17 weekends. Not very well conditioned course, and given the amount of rainfall over the spring months I expected it to be at its best.
