Great value for $$ for a quick hit after work or when having
limited time. Very small greens.
Good starting course for people new to the games, Stewy played
here alot as a young fella. Still can be easy to get yourself
into trouble if your not hitting straight with a creek running
along side the course. For someone thats plays a bit leave the
driver at home cause you are going to be working on your short
game with mostly par 3’s
Friendly staff who gave me a few tips which ended up being very
handy. I managed to par the 2nd and 4th holes (par 3’s),
which was very pleasing for someone with a high handicap! The 3rd
hole will punish you if you don’t hit straight. There is
sharp drop on the right side of the green. The green on the ninth
hole is a bit shot. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Great fun for 9 holes after work, situated near Garry and Warren
Smith Holden, Oakliegh offer a fun 9 hole layout with 6 par
3's. The first hole is a short par 4 that looks easy on the
card but any one who walks a way with a par will be happy. The
fairway is very, very narrow and a creek runs up the right hand
side and any errant shot is destined for a watery grave. Royal
Melbourne Pro Michael Farone is a regular player at this course
which go's to show that even the really good players enjoy a
day on the links with a few mates.
Oakleigh Golf Club is a 9 hole golf course with nice par 3's.
It is good when you just want to practice some shots and play at
the same time, it's also a good place to play for fun with
your friends. Greenfees aren't that expensive and neither are
the refreshments. Alot of par 3's on this course, I don't
think there are any par fives. Also an easy 97m(or even shorter)
Par three, you'll think birdie's a sinch! But it's
uphill, narrow and a windy elevated green, you'll have to be
laughing to get a birdie here. Hole after that is a Straight
Mid-Sized Par Four, but the green is tighly clustered but
bunkers, you might wanna lay-up and go for a one putt birdie, but
if your confident and aggresive you might just make eagle or even
albatross(double eagle)! The 9th is a Par 3 nice and straight
hole, but a little slice and your ball will roll downhill into a
really hard and lofted lob-shot or straight into the water,
accuracy is the key in this hole, the putting is fairly straight
in 75% of the green, so if you hit it straight and putt it in you
can make eagle. I hope this helps you make under par...
don't go the day they have a family group. 100 to tee off,
most who had never played. We abonded the second nine. Easy
enough course, right handers avoid the slice and no problems as
creek runs through every hole. If you have never broken a hundred
this is the one. Genuine birdie opportunities on every hole for
even high handicappers. Would be an ideal course to take 10 year
olds to learn the game. Inexpensive.
If you want to practice your short game, this is the place. with
7 par 3's (if i remmeber correctly only the 1st and 6th holes
are par 4's). The par 4's arent difficult, but you need
to hit stright and have a good sence of course managment. With
the par 3's, they are short to mid par 3's. I had trouble
when I was playing, hitting it fat alot, so I didn't have the
greatest round, but alot of that was my putting, which wasn't
easy on these greens. As Ive said, you want to practice your
short game, this is the place. Atleast, for public access.
