The Kew Golf Club is one of Melbournes finest golf courses. The Championship Par 72 layout of 6173 metres is a great test to all standards of players. Situated only 15 minutes from the city, the course meanders along the Yarra River providing a beautiful vista and is home for 100s of species of native birds. The course itself is currently home of the Victorian PGA Championship, (held in October) which forms part of the Australasian PGA Tour.

The course has undergone significant works over the past 18 months that have vastly improved the overall quality since I last played here a few years ago. Half the fairways have been fully renovated and re-laid with couch grass. New grading has introduced great undulation to #7 & #12 that should also improve drainage dramatically. Trees have been removed, most notably the Cypress that hung over the front right edge of #11 and the trees on the LHS of #13 fairway. A number of green complexes have been rebuilt & new bunkering on #7, #12 & #17 are all worthwhile improvements. Well worth revisiting.

Have been a member there since December '10. This courses' reputation precedes it, in terms of both course quality and member quality. Funnily enough, they are quite the opposite. The course design is good enough, offering various options both off the tee and on approaches, but nothing to write home about. As far as course conditioning goes, this course is that of a low quality public course in Cambodia. The fairways are dead, the tee boxes are dead, the greens...don't get me started, and the bunkers...you'd get more consistancy from a poker machine. I think perhaps the most admirable aspect of 'The Kew' is that the best green on the course is the chipping green down the bottom of the path AHAHAHAH -_- The members are all great (for the most part). The worst part of them is that they don't repair divots. It's absolutely disgusting. GAHHHHH im getting too angry thinking about how I pay $4000 to walk through the gates here, and thats even before i get to play a game here. 'NOUGH said.

A great golf course. Fairways are quite tight and require straight driving. Greens are excellent and course has a good number of bunkers and water hazards. One of the best courses I've played.

Challenging parklands course of medium length. Heavily treed and water hazards make this one of the most picturesque courses in Australia...Plays like a botanical garden! Each hole requires accuracy and positioning from the tee. This is the type of course you could play everyday. Classic clubhouse and nice outdoor drinking/bbq area overlooking the course. In my top ten.

An excellent golf course that offers a steady test in all conditions.

While certainly not a long course there is a premium placed on straight driving from the tee. The penalty for failing this is often a strike out-of bounds or into water hazards.

The greens have a tendency to be soft and generally play medium-slow. This can be a double-edged sword where a player can shoot directly at the pin but will have work cut-out finding range on the longer putts.

Being a clay-belt course the sand is not naturally occurring and so bunkers can play inconsistently and are probably a weakness.

Water is brought into consideration on a number of holes given the Yarra River meanders through the layout. This brings with it an abundance of native birdlife add a terrific element to the general course setting.

Quality short game practice facilities. Range facilities in serious need of improvement (planned to occur shortly).

Arguably the best course off the sandbelt.

Have driven past this course for 15 years going to work, wondering what it is like, even seeing it go under several meters of water when the Yarra flooded many years ago. Got to play it in a Pro-AM and it is fantastic, no wonder it has an impossible waiting list. Has all the necessary elements for a good test of golf, greens and bunkers are A1. Looking forward to the next round.
